Heidi's Story - Hîkayeya Heidi

    Heidi was five years old. She had no mother or father. She lived with her aunt Dete in Dörftli village. One sunny morning they were walking up the mountain path. Aunt Dete led Heidi by the hand. She wanted to bring Heidi to her grandfather, and then go back to Frankfurt. She had a very good job there. They walked for a long time. Her grandfather's house was up the Alm Mountain. Finally, they reached the house and stopped to catch their breath. Heidi's grandfather was smoking his pipe on the bench. Heidi came up to the old man quickly. 
    "So, what does it mean?" he asked.
    "Good afternoon, I brought you Adelheid's child. The child will stay here with you. I took care of her for the last four years. And now it is your turn to take care of her. You are the closest person to the child. I cannot take her with me to Frankfurt," answered Dete.
    The grandfather stood up and put aside his pipe. Ho looked at Dete angrily.
    "She can stay with me. But I do not want to see you again! Never come back here!" said the grandfather.
    "Good-bye to you. And to you too, Heidi," said Dete.
    Dete turned away quickly and went down the mountain . She was sad at that moment. But she was also happy that very soon she would be far away from Dörfli. When dete went away, the old man sat down on his bench again. Heidi stood in front of the old man and looked at him attentively. 
    "I want to see your house!" said Heidi.
    "Come then," said the grandfather.
    The old man opened the door and Heidi stepped inside after him. She stood in a big room. There was a table and a chair. The grandfather's bed stood in the corner near a big cupboard. Heidi loked carefully around the room.
    "Where will I sleep, Grandfather?" asked Heidi.    
    " You can sleep wherever you want," answered the grandfather.
    Heidi saw a short ladder againist the wall. She climbed the ladder slowly. She found a big room there. 
    "I will sleep here, Grandfather. It is so lovely here! Just bring me a sheet for my bed, please," said Heidi.
    "All right," said the grandfather.
    After a few minutes, the grandfather brought a long sheet.
